Hermann Kelly
Hermann Kelly has strong connections in the county having lived before in Drogheda and Mid-Louth for over 20 years.
Mr Kelly helped organise and spoke at the protest last year against the closure of the D Hotel and opposed its conversion to an IPAS centre. The protest attracted hundreds of people from the Drogheda area.
Mr Kelly and the Irish Freedom Party have been extremely vocal in its opposition to the Government's asylum and immigration policy.
He said he also wants to focus on solving the huge dereliction problem in major towns like Dundalk and Drogheda.
He continued that other priorities include making Louth a prime tourist destination and attracting new investment and jobs into the county.
Mr Kelly has advocated for a fiscal culture of lower taxes for Irish workers and higher taxes on vulture funds and REITS to put them out of the market to allow first time buyers to get on the housing market.
He said: "I'm also in favour of hiring more Gardai to deal with the increasing problem of anti-social behaviour and crime in Co Louth."
Mr. Kelly has also spoken out against the proposed wind farm in Kellystown, near Monasterboice, saying: "Wind farms in general are expensive, taxpayer - subsidised, built using tonnes of steel and concrete and extremely ugly, particularly unsuitable in a beautiful area of historical significance, such as Monasterboice.”
