Cllr Joanna Byrne
"I have been a member of Louth County Council since 2016 working as part of a dedicated Sinn Féin team of councillors in Louth. Making Louth a better place for everyone who calls our county home drives me in my political work and I am passionate about delivering for the people and the communities across Drogheda and its hinterlands.
"I was born in Drogheda, I grew up here, and I live and work here. I care deeply for our city and am privileged in my role as a County Councillor to work closely with many community groups, local organisations and sporting groups. Drogheda United FC holds a huge place in my heart, and I am honoured to hold the position of Chairperson of the Club, who have recently turned the whole county Claret and Blue with bunting and flags!
"The constituency of Louth and its costal parts of East Meath have been left behind by successive governments in terms of Housing, Infrastructure, Childcare, Community and Sporting facilities and Opportunities for Young people. I am running for election because I want to be a voice for our communities in the Dáil, as part of a Sinn Féin team who want to lead the next government. I believe that we need a change of government to develop our huge potential untapped and I want to play my part in delivering that.
"As a County Councillor I meet people who are fighting for healthcare, who can’t afford to rent or buy, who are living in substandard accommodation, who can’t afford childcare. I have been relentless in working to deliver housing, better treatment services for those battling addiction, and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.
"If given the opportunity to serve as a TD for Louth the delivery of city status for Drogheda; Affordable and adequate housing; investment in communities and sports; Access to healthcare where and when you need it; and Affordable Childcare are top of my agenda.
"I want to be elected as one of three Louth Sinn Féin TD’s who will work together as part of a Sinn Féin led government who will put ordinary people at the heart of its policies and deliver for our county.
