St Nicholas overcame a half time deficit to record their second league win of the season over St Kevin’s by 2-12 to 2-11 in Jimmy Pentony park on Sunday afternoon.
Playing into a slight breeze in the first half the Nicks started well with a pointed free from Richie campbell and a goal from Barry Woods. The visitors fought back with a point from play and three frees to make it all square midway through the half. The Kevins then went ahead with a goal from a long ball that deceived the Nicks defense with keeper Alan Sweeney unlucky not to keep it out.
St Kevins were dominating, but with another two frees from Campbell and a point from Roy Kierans they stayed in touch at the break. Campbell wasn’t missing much as he slotted another two, one free and one from play, to bring the sides even five minutes into the second half. A late goal from St Kevin’s left it tight at the end, but the Nicks held on to grab the win.
