Louth beat Meath to capture the U17 Damien Reid Perpetual Cup which took place in Darver on Sunday.

Louth raced into a 1-3 lead with Emmett Kirk scoring a penalty after 10 minutes. Chris O’Neill opened Meath’s account with a point on the 17th minute.

Meath dominated the rest of the half scoring five more points. The half-time score was Louth 1-5, Meath 0-6. Meath started the second half brightly with substitute, Ben Hoey making an immediate impact with two points.

Louth responded with an well taken goal by the dangerous Dean Maguire. It was point for point in the last 13 minutes, with Louth holding out for a three point win. Full time score was Louth 2-10, Meath 0-13.

Best for the winners were Dean Maguire, Emmett Kirk, Conor Leneghan and Jack Traynor. Best for Meath were Thomas O’Reilly, Podge McGowhan and Ryan Owens. Michael Reid presented the Man of the Match 
award to Emmett Kirk. Sally Reid presented Louth Captain, Peter 
Thornton with the cup.
