On a beautiful evening both sides served up some good passages of football, but both were very wasteful in front of goal. Yet it was St Fechins who progressed into the Sheelan Shield final in the end.
The sides exchanged early points from Leo Mc Grane and Ciaran Clarke, and it was point for point in the first quarter.
Fechins then got the only goal of the match when Vinny Corrigan set up Ronan Holcroft who gave the keeper no chance, and they went on to build up a comfortable lead at the break.
That left the half time score Fechins 1-8, Emmet’s 0-3.
Emmet’s had the opening score of the second half from Alan McGeogh with Holcroft and Ciaran Bellew exchanging a brace of points soon afterwards.
Conor Mc Eneaney and Connel Mc Geogh exchanged points, but Kilkerley, who tested Fechins defence on numerous occasions, never looked like getting the vital scores to worry the home side.
