Mairtins march on at the top of Division One

Naomh Mairtins maintained their place at the top of Division One thanks to this five point victory over Oliver Plunketts on Tuesday night.

It was a bad night for football and the Mairtins lost Paul Berrill through injury after just five minutes.

But the Mairtins started the better of the two teams, Brian Berrill scored a goal after seven minutes and were 1-3 to 0-2 up after sicteen minutes.

Then the Martin’s started to open up their play and scored six unanswered points and looked to be going in at half time with a comfortable lead.

However the Mairtins fell asleep for the last minute and conceded two goals.

The second half was far more evenly contested with both sides taking some good scores,the Mairtins finally secured the points when Brian Berrill scored his second goal of the game with a few minutes remaining.

Best for the Mairtins were Gavin Mooney, Brian Berrill, Kenny Lambe and Craig Lynch.
