Sunday’s Louth Senior Football Championship Final clash between the Newtown Blues and St Patrick’s has been postponed.

Sunday’s Louth Senior Football Championship Final clash between the Newtown Blues and St Patrick’s has been postponed.

A short statement from the Louth County Board, released on Friday explained the matter. It read: “The Louth GAA Competitions Control Committee have confirmed that the Avonmore Louth GAA Senior Football Championship Final between Newtown Blues and St Patricks, due to take place on Sunday October 2, has been postponed due to a tragic bereavement within the St Patricks club.

“The Louth County Board express their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased.”

The Minor Football Championship Final, - pitting St Brides against Geraldines - which was to act as the curtain raiser on the day has also been postponed. No new date has been announced for the finals.
