AN award-winning writer is galvanising local writing groups with the aim of staging an annual poetry festival in Co Louth.
John Noonan from Ravensdale plans to collaborate with local writing groups for the festival which might be held in Dundalk next autumn.
“It will give people the chance to have their work heard. I think it would be very good for Louth to have an event like that,” said John.
The founder of Dundalk Writers Group, John won a Goldsmith award in 2012 for his poem The Glass Maker. He has also been short-listed for many awards and has been published in magazines.

“Everyone is welcome to attend, either to read their work or to listen. It's a very warm and supportive atmosphere,” he said.
“Aspiring writers and beginners are more than welcome to come along and read their work aloud. It's not the easiest thing to do but it's very enjoyable.
