Tesco to create 40 temporary Christmas jobs in Louth

Tesco Ireland has launched its 2026 festive recruitment drive, with 40 temporary roles available across its stores in Louth as the retailer prepares for the busy Christmas shopping period.

The Louth roles form part of 1,725 festive jobs being created nationwide, an increase of more than 600 compared with last Christmas. The recruitment drive will create additional opportunities for people across the country looking to gain experience in retail or get some extra income over the Christmas period.

Applications are now open, with successful applicants joining Tesco across three start dates – 2 November, 9 November and 16 November until the end of December

Tesco is looking for helpful and friendly people to support its store teams and customers throughout the festive season. A range of shifts will be available across early mornings, daytime and evenings, providing flexibility for applicants looking to fit work around other commitments.

Maurice Kelly, People Director at Tesco Ireland, said, “Christmas is one of the busiest and most exciting times of the year in our stores, and we’re delighted to be creating 1,725 festive roles across the country this year, an increase of over 600 on last Christmas.

“Whether people are looking for additional hours over Christmas, returning to work or interested in trying retail for the first time, we’d encourage people to apply and join us for the festive season.

“These roles will help us support customers during the busy festive period while creating valuable employment opportunities in communities across Ireland.”

Positions are available nationwide, and Tesco encourages interested candidates to apply online as soon as possible. After Christmas, temporary colleagues will have the opportunity to apply for available permanent roles in existing stores or new Tesco locations planned for the coming year.
