DojoMór 2025 inspires the next generation of coders at Dundalk IT

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) recently hosted DojoMór 2025, the annual nationwide coding extravaganza aimed at inspiring young people to explore the exciting world of digital technology and coding.

Now in its 8th year, the event once again proved to be a major success, attracting almost 150 young participants aged between 6 and 16, who took part in over 270 individual coding workshops throughout the day.

Participants had the opportunity to engage in a wide range of hands-on sessions, including: HTML web development, Python programming using micro:bit, and Scratch coding for both beginners and intermediates. The newly introduced Roblox Studio workshop, allowed young creators to design and code their own virtual worlds. In addition to the structured workshops, attendees enjoyed experimenting with VEX Robots, tackling electronic puzzles, and solving a variety of pen-and-paper coding challenges.

Organisers were particularly encouraged to see that around one-third of attendees were girls, reflecting the growing enthusiasm among young women for technology and coding.

“We’re thrilled with the turnout and the energy at this year’s DojoMór,” said Peter Gosling, DkIT CoderDojo Coordinator. “It’s exciting to see so many young people engage creatively with technology — especially those trying coding for the first time.”

Following the success of DojoMór 2025, DkIT’s regular CoderDojo club will resume next month on Saturday, 8th November, from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Tickets will be available in the coming week on the DkIT CoderDojo booking page so keep an eye out.
