The staff of DkIT’s De Chastelain Library at the opening of An Grianán
DkIT recently launched its new Library Garden space An Grianán at DkIT’s De Chastelain Library. The event showcased the newly refurbished outdoor and indoor space which was updated by the library staff and funded by N-TUTORR, DkIT’s Healthy Campus initiative and Louth County Council contributions.
The event also commemorated Alice Redmond, a dear friend and colleague, who passed away in 2020. Alice was a highly valued member of staff, who was remembered fondly by both staff and students, and a plaque was unveiled in her memory.
Frank Brady, DkIT’s head librarian welcomed guests to the launch of An Grianán and spoke of the valuable contributions Alice had made during her time in DkIT. An Alice rose will be planted in her memory in the spring time.
Dr. Sheila Flanagan, Vice President for Academic Affairs at DkIT spoke about the wonderful transformations the library has gone through and commended the staff for going above and beyond to create a welcoming ethos of energy and positivity and an area of tranquillity to foster thought and learning.
