Dundalk FC have confirmed the signing of defender Bobby Burns from Galway United. The 26-year-old arrives following a productive campaign for the Tribesmen, where he made 33 appearances.
Speaking on his arrival, Burns told DFCTV: “At the end of the season, the manager rang me, and I came and met him here. I was really sold on the ambition of both him and the club. I’m really looking forward to getting going.

“It’s obviously a massive club, one of the biggest clubs in Ireland, and something that always really excited me, so I would have followed it very closely.
“The team did very well last year with a lot of really good young players. I really feel like this club has so much potential to get back to where it was five or six years ago.
“It’s something that really excites me because there are such good young players here and a really good manager.
“When you see the new ownership and the (Supporters) Trust relationship with them, and the new pitch, I think it is coming together well.
“We know it’s going to be a massive challenge this season. I know there are a lot of young players, and it can be difficult when you come up as a newly promoted team.
“We are not going to use that as an excuse; we’ve got to embrace the challenge and take it on.”
The Lilywhites have also announced that striker Gbemi Arubi has signed a new agreement with the club for the 2026 season.
