Dundalk’s First team returned to form with a resounding away victory over North County Fourth's last Saturday, the 12th.
Backed up by a strong innings from keeper Sakhi Jan, new Dundalk recruit Usman Azhar made all the difference for the town, scoring 76 off 89 deliveries and posting impressive debut bowling figures of 4-27 off 6 overs. The win lifts the Firsts to 6th in Division 10.
On Sunday, the Seconds also enjoyed a comfortable win, chasing down Sandyford’s 125 target with seven wickets in hand.
Regin Samuel and Captain Adarsh Hegde were clinical with the ball early on, while special credit must go to in-form youth talent Mohammad Emran, who took three great catches.
In Division 20, club stalwart Kapil Paija Pun took his maiden half-century for Dundalk; however, a high extra count and two strong top-order stands meant the Thirds were unable to defend their total at home to 3rd-placed Tyrrelstown Fifths.
This weekend’s league/cup fixtures: Mullingar 2 v Dundalk 1 (T20 Cup Semi-Final, Sat Jul 26, away), Sandyford 4 v Dundalk 2 (Division 18, Sun Jul 27, away).
