The eagle and birdie on the inward nine, together with pars at the 11th, 12th, 13th, 15th and 18th, saw him come  in 36 gross which was 31 nett.

He has one shot to spare from Brian Mernagh (19) who shot 69 to win Division 2  from Patrick Clarke 18) who was a shot further back.

Niall Henry (4) edged out Stephen English (8) on countback for Division 1 honours  after both had shot 70 nett while John Oakes (25) also shot 70 nett to win Division 3 by two shots from Aidan Rice (20).

Conall Murdock had the day’s best gross score as he shot a level par 72. Birdies on the front nine at the first and ninth were cancelled out by back to back bogeys at the fourth and fifth while his birdie at the 10th was cancelled out by a bogey on the 16th.

Shane Hession (3) won the McKenna Man Open Singles Stableford on Wednesday with an excellent score of 40pts which was two points clear of the field. He also had the day’s best gross score of 37pts.

He had a ropey start with back to back bogeys on the second and third which left him with four points after three holes.

But he covered the remaining 15 holes in 36pts thanks to a four point biride at the seventh and three point birdies at the 12th and 14th and a mixture of two and three point pars at the other 12 holes. He went out in 19pts and came home in 21pts.

Niall Martin (10) shot 38pts to take second place overall, edging out Fergal Sexton (13) on countback. Sexton took Division 1 while Bernard Crombie (17) , now playing out of Skerries, won Division 2 and Paul Heaney (23) won Division 3.

On the inter-club front the Senior Cup team had a good 3.5 to 1.5 win over Greenore in the first round while the Mixed Foursomes team beat Seapoint on the third play-off hole after the teams had drawn 2-2 after 18 holes.
