Dundalk Grammar School’s senior Gaelic footballers marked their inaugural tour to Kerry with an impressive victory over Intermediate School Killorglin.

The trip began with a special moment at Fitzgerald Stadium, the spiritual home of Kerry football, where the Grammar squad were welcomed by none other than two-time Footballer of the Year, David Clifford.

The Kerry star delivered a motivational talk to the team and presented captain Cian Spaight with a signed Kerry jersey, an unforgettable memento of their visit to the Kingdom.

The match itself, played the following day, proved a competitive encounter in the first half.

Mark Tyrrell kicked off proceedings with a fine left-footed effort while Ronan Foley’s consistent scoring gave Grammar the edge, while goalkeeper Adam Keane produced several crucial saves.

Full-back Jack O’Leary, making a welcome return from injury, provided a solid foundation in defence. DGS led by four points at the interval.

The second half, however, saw a dominant surge from the visitors. Michael Daly opened the goal-scoring spree, followed by well-taken efforts from Stephen Tuohy and Spaight, who soared above the keeper to palm home a fourth goal.

The Kelly brothers were instrumental in keeping up the pressure as well as Josh McGinn, whose tireless work rate was central to the DGS's success on the day.
