Mannan Castle Seniors

It was great to see five new seniors join the ranks for the weekly competition. The seniors club is going from strength to strength and all who are interested in participating are welcome.

As usual, it was a very closely fought contest with slender margins separating the field. Club President Eamon Trainor (10) was very much to the fore recording an excellent 21 points and overall victory. His haul of five pars was instrumental in his win.

Eamon was followed home by Jimmy McMahon (9) and Thomas Gartlan (10) who took categories 1 and 2 respectively with 20 points. Jimmy had 4 pars while Thomas had 3.

Category 3 winner was Seamus Geoghegan (17) with 19 points less a deduction of 1. The 9 points he recorded on the final three holes ensured his victory.

Tuesday 11th February 9 Hole Competition (9 hole handicap):

Overall: Eamon Trainor (10) 21pts; Category 1: Jimmy McMahon (9) 20pts; Category 2: Thomas Gartlan (10) 20pts; Category 3: Seamus Geoghegan (17) 18pts (19-1).

Mannan Castle Ladies

This isn't Marie McKeown's first visit to the top three this year. Out of five starts, this is Marie's second first place, and it's only early February.

Solid scoring the whole way round, Marie finished with a handsome two-point cushion over the rest of the big field. Four players finished with 25 points with only two places left on the podium.

A birdie on eight and a par on the 12th saw Margaret Crawley back in the winning circle again and securing second place. Louise Hanratty had yet another excellent round. Nine pars over 13 holes meant her 25 points took third place.

Women's Spring Weekly 13H 12th February 2025

Winner - Marie McKeown (35) 27 pts; Runner-up - Margaret Crawley (27) 25 pts c/b; Third - Louise Hanratty (4) 25 pts c/b.
