Dundalk and District Dart League round-up

The results, tables, and fixtures after Round 4

Dundalk and District Dart League round-up

Week four of the Heineken sponsored Dundalk and District Dart League saw the Phoenix Bar host Division Two early pacesetter Callans HBX.

After racing into a 3-0 lead courtesy of Mark Hillard , Joe Davidson and Garrett Doyle it looked like the team captained by Fintan Rogers looked home and hosed.

But the men from Hackballscross are always a team to be feared and after Allen Durnin and Rodney Mc Loughlin reduced the deficit it was building up to a nervy finish for the Park Street team.

But Garreth Woods got the better of Kevin Campbell to give the Phoenix their first win of the season in Division Two.

Meanwhile in the First Division, there was a big Derby match on out in Blackrock with Uncle Toms hosting Uncle Kevin's.

After going into a 1-0 lead through Eoghan Carroll, Uncle Kevins looked to build on that and cement their place at the top end of the First Division.

Unfortunately for them, Uncle Toms under their Captain, Padraig Gorham, had other ideas.

Uncle Toms won the next five matches and secure a 5-1 win with Paddy Hoey playing a starring role for Uncle Toms while hitting eight x 100+ scores while Wayne Fry was best for Uncle Kevin's.

Also in Division One, down in Bridge Street there was an eagerly awaited contest taking place between Damh O'Thuaidh from the Northend Bar and their next door neighbours Bodhran Hawks.

Before the game started there was one minute of applause for Greg Rosada of the Bodhran who recently suffered a bereavement in his family.

Having gone one up courtesy of Armando Baltazar and then 2-1 up from man of the match Greg Rosada either side of Simon Wykes winning for the home team, it looked like the Hawks were heading for at least a share of the points.

But Alan Rogan (man of the match for Damh O Thuaidh after hitting seven 100+ scores), Hughie Shields (recovered from 2-0 down for the second week in a row to claim victory) gave the home team a 3-2 advantage going into the last game.

The last game was always going to be a tight game between Paul Callan and Padraic O'Ruairc.

Both players held their advantage in the first three games and Padraic had darts to level up in the fourth game but missed darts cost him and Paul hit the winning double to secure a hard earned victory for his team.
