A new season starts for the Dundalk and District Dart League

Five new teams join the league

A new season starts for the Dundalk and District Dart League

Last Thursday saw the Dundalk and District Dart League start up again for another season. Now sponsored by Heineken, the committee hopes this is the start of a new dawn for the league with their new sponsor on board.

This season sees 18 teams competing in the league and with five of these teams being newcomers to the league the committee have decided to change things up slightly in order to gauge the strength of the new teams joining.

Starting off with two pools of nine teams, the teams in each pool will play one another once and then the overall points total will decide what teams make up the Premier, First and Second Division before the darts start in earnest.

A welcome return to the league was made last week by Marianne Gartland who over the years has proven that she's as good as her male opponents on her day.

Alan Rogan's form shows no sign of letting up and he hit a 15 darter on his way to victory for Damh O'Thuaidh in their game against Uncle Toms.

Mark Connolly and Hamilton Smith looked to be having a private battle to see who could hit the most 180s for their team, Uncle Toms Cabin in their game against Cornetts Craicheads with Mark coming out on top by the slenderest of margins.

Craig Callan of Uisce Beatha, in his first-ever game in the league, hit a few big scores on his way to winning his game but unfortunately, his team lost out to Uncle Kevin's.

The evergreen pair of Barney Carolan (Punters Athletic) & Pat Doyle (Clans) both put in man-of-the-match efforts in the 3-3 draw between their teams.
