Two arrested and eight vehicles seized during Louth dawn checkpoints

Louth Gardai carried out checkpoints alongside Customs and Revenue and the Department of Social Protection
Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and eight vehicles were seized for tax and insurance offences during a series of early-morning checkpoints across Louth.
The checkpoints were carried out before dawn yesterday by the Louth Roads Policing Unit (RPU), working alongside Customs and Revenue and the Department of Social Protection.
An Garda Síochána Louth confirmed that the multi-agency operation targeted vehicles and drivers on roads throughout the county.
Gardaí reported that two motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while eight vehicles were seized due to tax and insurance offences.
The operation also served as a reminder to motorists of the dangers of driving the morning after consuming alcohol.
Gardaí warned that drivers may still be under the influence the following morning, even if they no longer feel the effects of alcohol, potentially putting themselves and other road users at risk.
