The drugs seized in Louth
Gardaí and Revenue seized an estimated €150,000 worth of suspected herbal cannabis during a joint operation in Louth on Monday.
As part of an intelligence-led operation, suspected herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €150,000 (subject to analysis), was seized.
The seizure of approximately 7.5kg herbal cannabis was a result of a joint-operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Dundalk Drugs Unit, and Revenue Customs Service.
A man in his 30s was arrested by An Garda Síochána under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and is currently being detained at a Garda station in Co. Louth.
The drugs seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
Revenue say this seizure is part of their ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
