Giving false details backfires for disqualified driver in Dundalk

A disqualified driver has been taken off the road in Dundalk after attempting to deceive Gardaí at a roadside stop.

Members of Dundalk RPU, assisted by colleagues from the Anti-Crime Unit, stopped the vehicle after it was spotted speeding on the Cooley Peninsula. 

The driver initially provided false details at the scene, but Gardaí eventually located a driver’s licence and discovered the individual was disqualified from driving.

The driver was taken to the station, charged, and their vehicle was seized.

The licence has been confiscated and will be returned to the issuing authority.
