Sentenced for entering an unlocked car at a Dundalk estate

A now 20-year-old man who was identified on CCTV footage as a teenager who had entered an unlocked car, was sentenced to two months at Dundalk District Court last week.

The defendant, who can't be named due to his age at the time, pleaded guilty to getting into the vehicle at Ashbrook, Tom Bellew Avenue, Dundalk on June 26th 2021.

The court heard he had 127 previous convictions, 40 of which were for the same type of offence.

He is currently serving a three and a half year sentence imposed by the Circuit Court and has a release date, with remission of December 2027.
