Man charged after Garda cash seizure in Louth and Dublin

The Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin

One of the two men (aged in their 20’s), who were arrested in connection with money laundering offences and the seizure of cash and mobile phones in Louth and Dublin over the weekend has been charged.

He is expected to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ) this morning at around 10.30am.

The second man remains in Garda custody.

On Saturday, as part of ongoing investigations into organised crime under Operation TARA, members of the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) intercepted a vehicle shortly before 9:00pm in North County Dublin. 

Searches were also carried out at two residential properties and one business located in North County Dublin and County Louth.

During the course of the operation, Gardaí recovered £185,000 (approximately €213,000) and €48,700 in cash, along with several mobile phones.

Two men, aged in their 20s, were arrested under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 for allegedly facilitating money laundering activities on behalf of an organised crime group.
