Ardee district court has heard how a 29 year old man jumped out of a car and jumped over a number of hedges, after he was spotted driving without insurance for a third time.

Adam Thornton with an address at Castle Guard Manor, Ardee was prosecuted for an offence on June 11th last year at Slieve Breagh, Ardee.

The defence barrister said his client was in a particular head space at the time and had moved to Drogheda to care for a relative with motor neurone disease and was on his way to fill-up his mother's car, to assist her, when he was stopped by gardaí.

Judge Stephanie Coggans imposed a two year disqualification and a €300 fine for driving with no insurance (with six months to pay) and a further €100 for driving without a driving licence.
