A driver has been issued a €150 fine after being spotted parked in a disabled parking bay without a permit by Dundalk gardai.
The car was observed stopped in the designated space while the driver waited for someone to collect takeaway food.
When approached, gardai say the driver argued that no one else was looking to use the spot.
However gardai say, the issue lies in the fact that if a permit-holder were to arrive and find the space occupied, they could be forced to park much farther away or in a less suitable spot.
A fixed penalty fine of €150 was issued for the violation.
