A 48 year old man who stole three packets of Pampers nappies worth almost €30 and five tubs of baby formula worth over €72 from Tesco Extra, does not have a child and it's believed the goods were being sold on, Dundalk district court was told last week.

Ronan Bannon with an address at Dublin Street, Dundalk who admitted committing the separate thefts on St. Valentine's Day 2023 and three days later addressing the court said "I'm deeply sorry".

The court heard he had no previous convictions and has been diagnosed with a mental health issue.

After €100 was paid into the court, Judge Nicola Jane Andrews applied the Probation of Offenders Act.
