A 37 year old man who became abusive to ambulance personnel who were trying to treat him, told Dundalk district court last week “everybody do mistakes” when he was asked if he had anything to say about the matter.
Alekseijs Dubins with an address at Glenwood, Dublin Road, Dundalk was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at Glenwood, Dundalk on June 6th last.
Court Presenter Sgt Letitia McConnell outlined how garda received a report of an assault shortly before 6am.
On arrival at the scene, they found the defendant with small cuts to his arm in an extremely intoxicated state and he became abusive to the ambulance personnel.
The court heard he had one historic previous conviction for being intoxicated in a public place.
He said he was drunk and added “Everyone drinks. Everybody do mistakes”.
Judge Stephanie Coggans replied “It’s not on” but struck out the charges after he paid €300 into court for the North Louth Hospice.
