Dundalk Courthouse
A man who was involved in causing €200 worth of damage to a front door, after his partner was assaulted was sentenced to 200 hours community service at Dundalk District Court last week in lieu of a two month sentence.
Christopher Clarke of Doolargy Avenue, Muirehvnamor was charged with causing criminal damage to a pane of glass at a separate address in Doolargy Avenue on March 30th last.
The Defence solicitor handed in €100 for his client, who the court heard had 88 previous convictions.
He said the context to the offending was that Mr. Clarke and his partner had acted 'in a totally wrong way' after she was assaulted, and stressed that there had been no contact since the incident with the homeowner, who is a partner of the alleged perpetrator who is before the courts in relation to the assault.
He told the court that the defendant has "no intention of going back near that house."
