Man prosecuted for Covid travel breach was living in his car, Dundalk court told

A 42 year old man who was prosecuted for breaching Covid travel restrictions, was living in his car at the time, his solicitor told Dundalk District Court last week.

Steven Joseph McCumiskey who gave an address at Doolargy Avenue, Dundalk was summoned for an alleged offence at Greenore on February 7th 2021.

The Defence solicitor told the court his client was living in his car at the time and asked "where else would he be?".

However court presenter Sgt. Laura Blanch pointed out the defendant had given an address to gardaí.

The solicitor replied that that is his client's residence but at the time he was living in his car and explained "He goes to the coast if he's not feeling well'.

Judge Vincent Deane said given the investigating Garda was not in court, and on the basis of the severity of the charge, he was going to strike the matter out.
