DUNDALK musician Sharon Corr is set to perform at the US-Ireland Alliance’s seventh annual Oscar Wilde: Honoring the Irish in Film.
Sharon will also share the stage with Cathy Davey and Colin Devlin at the star-studded event, which is taking place in Los Angeles on February 23.
The Academy Award nominees honoured will include John Logan, Melissa McCarthy and Michelle Williams, while Kenneth Branagh will be a presenter of the event at Bad Robot, JJ Abrams’ Santa Monica production company.
Trina Vargo, president of the non-profit US-Ireland Alliance, has welcomed the addition of music to the awards ceremony.
“Sharon, Cathy and Colin are three very talented artists,” she said.
“I know the guests will greatly enjoy them and I hope this event will expose them to many people who aren’t already familiar with them.”
Jim Brooks of The Simpsons included Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova in an episode after he saw them performing at a previous Oscar Wild awards show. The event also boosted the careers of musicians Paddy Casey, SJ McArdle, and Laura Izibor.
