With all the turbulence recently at Dundalk FC, the black and army has been galvanised into action.

Football fans from across the town and much further afield have been showing their support and backed a successful multi-platform fundraiser organised by The 1903 Dundalk Fc Supporters Club.

Money raised so far has totalled almost €30,000 and continues to grow.

Chairperson of The 1903, Orla Crilly, explained that this just the tip of the iceberg in what is needed for the development of Oriel Park but is a step in the right direction.

Money so far has been used to support all seven teams who play under the banner of Dundalk FC.

“It has been vital that we provide the practical support of getting all teams to their fixtures around the country.

"Transport is expensive but no child should miss out on competing in their chosen sport because of trouble behind the scenes at the club.

“This town now needs to step up and back all the fundraising initiatives rolled out by this independent supporters club.

"We will work tirelessly to make sure Dundalk FC fans are never put back in the position that we were in recently, almost losing our club.

"Let’s take that fear and use it as a catalyst for change at the club.

"As fans, we don’t get to sit back anymore and hope that a white knight saves us.

"By actively fundraising  across a wide catchment area we can strengthen our position as a club and build something stable that we can be proud of, for generations to come.

"I call on all the fans to start their own fundraisers and start building a pot of money that we can use for projects that everyone will benefit from.

"Currently, we are working on many aspects of building a secure club that will benefit the town as a community.

"Everything will need funding and we want people to get creative with their ideas for events and let us know how we can help you make it a success.

"Every bit helps and no matter how small, we will make sure that the money goes to where it’s most needed and benefits the community as a whole. W

"We will also be engaging in some larger fundraising ideas but will need everyone to give their support to make them a success.

"If you can invest a small amount of time in helping us, we can really make a difference going forward.

"When you look at clubs like Sligo, who have an ethos of great fundraising, and have a very stable business model, it’s definitely something to strive for. ”

Three imminent fundraisers are organised to have broad appeal.
