Plenty of live music in Dundalk's Toales this weekend

Messy Avocado will play in Toales on Friday night

Toales in Dundalk will have four gigs on this coming weekend starting on Thursday.

Thursday 25th July - Fireside Sessions present THE TWO FIVE ONES + Elena Duff - FREE Adm - Starts 9pm

Toales' Fireside Sessions is an acoustic club that showcases the best in acoustic acts, always inside by the "virtual" fire in the bar, always free admission, and is delighted to welcome the jazzy/blues/folk act The Two Five Ones, a music duo consisting of Dara MacGabhann on vocals, and Andy Hogg on guitar, who are making their Fireside Session debut.

The Two Five Ones' shows are packed with jazz and blues classics from the 1920s through to the 1950s and beyond, and also feature some original compositions in the same genre. With classics from such artists as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Bonnie Raitt and the Ink Spots, The Two Five Ones bring a laid-back ambience of elegant sophistication.

Support on the night comes from Elena Duff, who writes and produces beautiful original songs that are broadly folk / indie-folk / alt-folk in genre, although her influences are much broader than that, taking in early jazz and blues, sean nós, torch songs and more...

This is a free event and kicks off at 9pm.

Friday 26th July - MESSY AVOCADO + special guests Alice Robinson & Colette Clinton- Doors 8pm - Admission only €5

Based in the wee county of Louth and self-described as "Six eejits that should know better...", Messy Avocado are an Irish all-female band whose eclectic "festival-vibe" style is mainly influenced by alt-folk-rock, with a dose of whatever-life-throws-at-ya.

Their energetic and vibrant performances encourage audience participation with great original songs and smart, irreverent lyrics that inject a mighty dose of craic and feel-good vibes every time they play!

Main support on the night comes from Alice Robinson, a Louth-based alternative singer-songwriter that creates musical and lyrical vocabularies that are unique and deserve our critical attention. An inimitable artist, Alice's vocal style drifts uneasily, luring in the listener with pretty and tender vocal lines before succumbing to heartrending shouts and wails of suppression and resistance....

Opening the night is Meath alt folk/country singer songwriter Colette Clinton.

Doors are at 8pm and admission is a fiver.

Saturday 27th July - PAUL WELLER EXPERIENCE - Doors 8pm - Admission €15

Bringing you all the hits from Paul Weller`s vast and hugely successful career, The Paul Weller Experience, the UK and Ireland's premier tribute to the Modfather, play a dynamic and authentic two hour set featuring a mix of The Jam, The Style Council and Paul Weller's solo, so there's something for everyone, including Going Underground, A Town Called Malice, Shout To The Top, You do Something To Me, Sunflower, Floorboards up, and on...
