Brigid and Cú: The League of Legends at Anaverna House
An Táin Arts Centre and Chalk on the Wall Productions present, Brigid and Cú: The League of Legends at Anaverna House running from the 7th until the 11th of August.
This will be the 10th year Dundalk's An Táin Arts Centre return to the beautiful grounds of Anaverna house with their annual outdoor, promenade family theatre show, which has sold out all 16 performances year on year.
This year they are partnering with Chalk on the Wall Productions, their Theatre Company in Residence, who is made up of graduates from the theatre and film practice course at DKIT.
The residency is an opportunity for graduates to forge a career pathway with guidance and mentoring from the team at An Táin Arts Centre.
This years show is an original play written by Shane McCabe from Chalk on the Wall Productions, taking the characters of Brigid and Cúchulainn from Irish Mythology and incorporating elements from different cultures based on the nationalities and experiences of the members of the theatre company.
Guided by a mysterious storyteller, two young heroes Cú and Brigid, embark on a journey to unravel the disappearance of Mother Nature. Encountering international legendary figures Pan from Ancient Greece and the enigmatic Baba Yaga from Polish folklore, they gather allies from around the world, forming a league of legends united in their quest to preserve our planet’s precious natural treasures. Suitable for ages 5+.
Director of An Táin Arts Centre, Paul Hayes said: “This is a really exciting year for our annual Anaverna show as for the first time we are working with our new Theatre Company in Residence Chalk on the Wall.
"The script by Shane McCabe is fantastic and the cast of seasoned regulars and some new faces are rearing to go.”
This original interactive family performance, brims with magic and wonder and promises an exhilarating fusion of Irish and international myths and legends, all set amidst the captivating backdrop of Anaverna House.
Brigid & Cu: The League of Legends is produced by An Táin Arts Centre & Chalk on the Wall Productions and comes to Anaverna House in Ravensdale from Wednesday 7th to Sunday 11th August 2024, show times are 1pm, 3pm and 5pm daily with an additional performance at 7pm on Saturday 5th August.
Tickets cost €13.50 - Adult, €7 - child /concession and €30 for a family pass.
All tickets incur a booking fee of €1.50 per ticket per person. Tickets will not be available at Anaverna House, admission will be by customer list.
