The Mary Wallopers played a packed out performance in Glastonbury on Friday, with fans and newcomers alike praising the band's hard-hitting trad sounds.
The Dundalk group played at the popular Park Stage on Friday from 3:15 until 4pm. Fellow Irish band Fontaines D.C. also graced the Park Stage on Friday at 11pm.
The Mary Wallopers had previously performed at Glastonbury festival last year at the smaller Crow’s Nest stage, and were upgraded this year to seemingly reflect the group's ever-increasing popularity.
Singer and banjo player Andrew Hendy was seen donning a t shirt displaying an image of Provisional IRA member and hunger striker Bobby Sands.
The band played a mix of old and new songs alike through their short setlist, fitting in thirteen of their modern trad classics to their 45-minute slot.
The Wallopers ended with three of their biggest songs to get the crowd going, with roaring versions of 'Eileen Óg', 'Cod Liver Oil and The Orange Juice' and finally ending on 'Frost is All Over'.
Many praised the rip-roaring live performance, with one commenter saying that "Shane MacGowan would be proud, sounds as good as the Pogues in their heyday".
Another added that the group were "the best band I've ever seen live, good dancing craic how it should be, hup Dundalk."
