New Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District of Ardee Dolores Minogue with Leas Cathaoirleach for the coming term John Sheridan

Cllr Dolores Minogue was elected as the new Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District of Ardee for the 2025/2026 term of office at the Annual General Meeting held in Ardee Civic Offices last Thursday.

Cllr Minogue, who was nominated for the position by Cllr Rachel Kerley, replaces outgoing Cathaoirleach, Cllr John Sheridan, who was elected to the role of Leas Cathaoirleach for the upcoming term.

In advance of the selection of the new Cathaoirleach, Cllr Sheridan thanked outgoing Leas Cathaoirleach, Cllr Jim Tenanty, and the members for their support and co-operation during his term. He also thanked Louth County Council officials and their teams, in addition to the media.

Members congratulated Cllr Sheridan on his work throughout the year, saying he was ‘very fair’ and ‘professional’.

New Cathaoirleach, Cllr Minogue, who was previously elected to the position in 2023, thanked the members for electing her to the role, saying: “I am honoured and humbled to be elected Cathaoirleach of Ardee Municipal District and grateful for the trust shown to me by my fellow councillors.

“I am committed to serving our community with dedication and integrity, and I’m looking forward to us all working together for the betterment of Ardee and Mid-Louth.”
