Presenter, interviewer and compere Harry Lee, who is best known for his unique voice, has been ill for the last number of months.

He is currently recovering from medical treatment and says that he will be back on his feet in no time.

“I’ve had a hard couple of months,” Harry told The Dundalk Democrat, “An illness put me out of action for a couple of months.

“It has been a rough time, but I am nearly there.”

Harry has been off the airways at DundalkFM for over four and a half years.

He presented the stations flagship programme, Dundalk Daily.

In 2012, the Employment Appeals Tribunal ruled that Harry has been unfairly dismissed by the Dundalk Media Centre.

“I won’t be returning to the station, but I look forward to resuming my other work.”

Harry presented a show on Louth Internet Radio for sometime.

He has also compered many events for a wide range of local groups.

Although 2013 - the year of the gathering - was a busy year for the presenter.

The project attracted huge interest and some well known Dundalk people contributed to it with wonderful interviews.

“I conducted over thirty interviews with people who grew-up in Dundalk and moved abroad.

“It was a great project and I enjoyed every single interview.

“My passion is talking about the good old days in Dundalk.

“I’ve been told that the significance of these interviews won’t be realised until thirty years later.

“I think they will be a valuable source of information in the future.”

Harry was heartened by a recent visit to a local primary school.

“A teacher asked me to chat to the students about Dundalk in the old days.

“I laughed, because I didn’t think students would be interested.

“I spoke to the class for over two hours.

“They were amazed that there was life before the Marshes.”

At 75-years-old, Harry doesn’t seem to be relaxing anytime soon.

“I won’t be sitting in my house watching Judge Judy, that’s for sure,” adds Harry.
