Songs of War and Peace is a unique concert with Zoe Conway, the RTE Contempo Quartet and Malachy Robinson, which will explore music from countries in conflict through a free performance in Dundalk Gaol this Sunday, 1 June at 8pm.

Before the concert, Irish Times music journalist, Michael Dervan, will also give a presentation on Music and Conflict and there will also be a discussion chaired by RTE Radio 1 Arts Show presenter, Vincent Woods on the role of arts in peacebuilding.

The music will feature works from Steve Reich, Different Trains, which focuses on voices from the holocaust for string quartet; a world premiere of Perpetuum Mobile by Dmitri Yanov-Yanovski for solo violin and string quintet; and Elaine Agnew’s I want to tell you featuring violin, cello and recorded voices from those displaced as result of the conflict in Northern Ireland.
