Toal reflects on a job well done
Cian Doyle scorer of both Dundalk Colleges penalties
IN the darkening tunnel of Pairc Tailteann, Dundalk Colleges manager Leslie Toal reflected on a job well done after seeing his side overcome Knockbeg, in tough conditions last Saturday.
“It was a very hard earned win and I think last year’s experience paid off in the end”, he stated.
Despite their poor start Toal never doubted his charges’ abilities and patience in eventually overcoming the Carlow side.
“We don’t panic. We didn’t panic last year and we played our way back into the game. But I must say that the defence was brilliant. Stephen McMenamin at left full and Darragh Smith played brilliantly. They played very, very good stuff and the whole team tackled very hard and I think we deserved the win in the end.”
Commenting on the semi-final and further progression in the competition Toal pointed to the experience of his side over the last couple of years and how it might help them.
“We might have an advantage experience-wise but we’re back here in Navan in a fortnight but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”
