COOLEY Kickhams and Louth stopper Neil Gallagher was in no doubt as to the strong belief and character in the Wee County squad after Sunday’s result in Salthill.

“We knew ourselves in the dressing room that we believed we could win the game. I know unfortunately we had a chance at the end, but it just didn’t happen .Yeah we’ll take the point. We’re not coming into games thinking - we’ll take a draw. We’re as good as anyone in that division and we believe in ourselves.

“In the first half we were maybe four or five points down, but we clawed our way back into it and showed a bit of character”, added Gallagher.

He also referred to the intense competition in the Louth ranks for a place in the starting 15 at present.

“Everyone is knocking on the door to get into the starting line up and we’re all pushing each other very hard. It bodes well for the rest of the campaign.”
