A reminder that the fundraising draw for the proposed playground in the village, which was to have been held last Saturday night had to be deferred and will now take place on Easter Sunday night, next 31st March. We would ask you to support this draw. Tickets, €10 can be had from any member of the committee or in the local shops or in Sarks Lounge on the night.
We send our congratulations to local girl Katie Murphy who recently became Leinster Champion at the Juvenile Indoor Championships in Athlone. Competing in Under 13 Shot Putt, Katie smashed a twenty year old record when she recorded a throw of 10.92m to take the gold medal. Katie is daughter of Colm and Linda Murphy, Tullycachan. In the same event, Emma McDermott, daughter of David and Patricia McDermot, Ardpatrick, took home the bronze medal for third place. Both girls are members of St. Pater’s Athletic Club, Dromiskin, and Katie will now compete in the All Ireland Finals. Two years ago an attempt was made to set up an Athletic Club in the village but due to lack of interest it did not materialise. Also these girls cannot compete in the forthcoming Community Games as there is no area from the parish affiliated to the County Board.
The team had a very good win against O’Raghallaigh’s and last Sunday they played Mattock Rangers away. Report in sports pages.
Long serving club member Tony McArdle was honoured by the Louth Supporter’s Club at their Annual Awards Night in Carrickdale Hotel last Friday night. He received the Johnny Mulligan Award for his service to the club and G.A.A. in the County. A very well deserved recognition for Tony and we send him our congratulations.
The annual Good Friday table quiz run by the girl guides will be held in the community centre commencing at 8.30. This is the main fund raiser that the guides hold in the year so your support would be greatly appreciated.

The parish lost one of its best known parishioners with the passing the weekend before last of Tom Malone, Fearon Drive. To his wife Anne, Daughters, in-laws & relations we send our deepest sympathy. Also to Martin Haughey Knockfergus and Brian Rafferty Fearon Drive on the recent death of their mothers.
The village indoor bowls club played a very strong Redeemer side at home last week and while they lost they are still near the top of the league with one more game to play against Kilanney.
