Kilkerley Bowls Club host the 11th Annual Open Pairs Tournament for the John Mulligan Perpetual Cup began in the Community Centre on Easter Monday night with Heats continuing also on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. The qualifiers from each night will contest the final this Friday night April 5 at 7.30pm. All Kilkerley Club members are asked to be present each night as much assistance is needed to ensure the competition is again successful. The Club, Easter Round Robin Competition for Easter Eggs took place last Thursday night. The Club is still involved in Division 2 of the 10’s League and members have so far this year also competed in Tournaments in Louth, Clontibret, Cooley and Lordship. Bowls will continue weekly at the local Bowls Club where you will be very welcome each Wednesday night at 7.45pm in the Community Centre.


Niamh Daly, Eimear Geoghegan, Shannon Smith and the Kilkerley Committee for the Armagh Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes would like to sincerely thank all who baked, helped out and provided over 40 spot raffle prizes for our fund raising event held in Kilkerley Community & Enterprise Centre Sunday 24th March last.€1,430 was raised with particular thanks to the generosity of all who supported us on the morning.

Country Storm play on April 14, Curtis Magee on April 21 and Footsteps on April 28, Michael Cleary and Briege Kelly on May 5, Blue Magic on May 12, Housty on May 19 and Showbud on May 26. Dancing from 9.30pm to 12.30am.

There was no Club night last Friday as it was Good Friday, on this Friday April 5 it will be Thrill Night and on Friday week April 12 it is Pizza and Zumba night. The Club need adult female volunteer Leaders so if you are interested please contact the Club and full training will be provided. Pilgrimage to Lourdes

The Sheelan Cup last round was away to Hunterstown Rovers on Good Friday with the outstanding previous round home game against Naomh Malachi likely to be played this week end.

Shane Lennon has arranged a Regional Coaching session in Kilkerley on Saturday morning April 12 with himself and one other Louth player taking one group of children for a training session. Mentors from surrounding clubs will be invited to attend. The senior league games schedule is as follows – Newtown Blues (A), O’Connells (H), Gaels (H), O’Raghaillighs(A), Plunkets (H), St Pats (A), Martins (H), Cooley (A), Dreadnots (H), Sean O’Mahoneys (A), Mattock Rangers (H) . The U-14 play away to St Josephs in Division 2 League this Wednesday April 3 at 6.30pm and on Monday next the U-16 team play at home against St Fechins in Division 2 league at 6.30pm.

The U- 12 league starts this Friday April 5, U- 11 starts on Friday April 12, U- 10 started on Monday of this week as did the U-18 League, U- 9 starts on Monday April 8, U- 8 starts on this Sunday April 7. Shane Lennon’s 1-5 against Derry brought him to a total of 29-170 at county senior level and into fifth place in the county highest scorer records. He needs just 4 more goals to overtake Stephan White as the all- time highest county senior team goal scorer.
