Children’s Takewondo classes will commence in the Parish Centre on Saturday April 6 from 10.00 a.m. To 11.00 a.m. And will run each Saturday at the same time. St. Bride’s Ladies G.F.C.

St. Bride’s Ladies are hosting Zumbamina with Niamh and Heather on Saturday April 6 from 3.00 p.m. To 5.00 p.m. In Knockbridge Community centre. Tickets priced at E10 for adults and E5 for children over 8 years are available from any committee member . Only children accompanied by an adult will be admitted. Anthony and Emma Bell from Newtown, Knockbridge, are delighted to welcome their new baby son, Rory, born on Thursday March 21 into their family.

Tax Relief For

Parishes

The scheme applies to all PAYE workers who contribute to the Parish in any way. The Parish can claim bach income tax on all donations,i.e. Weekly envelopes, priests dues, donations on the collection plate etc. If your total contribution is E250 or more a year you can partake in this scheme. This will not effect your personal tax in any way.You may register with more than one charity up to 10% of your earnings. Thank you for your continued support.

Tidy Towns

Knockbridge Tidy Towns are asking all members of the local community to be vigilant and to please help over the coming months to keep the village and roads litter free. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Anybody who would like to join the Tidy Towns committee or indeed to get involved in any way of their choice would be most welcome to come along to the next tidy towns meeting which will be held on Thursday 11th April. For further details please ring the secretary at 087-2710716. The committee are looking for ways to improve the place, thank you very much. Knockbridge currently holds 2nd place in County Louth in the National Tidy Towns Competition in the 2012 competition. Please help to increase this result or at least to retain it and to get our GOLD status medal back. Without the help of the local community we cannot achieve this well deserved status. HELP!!!!

Thank you to the people who do and have helped, to those who contributed flowers and shrubs, to the people and young people who go out and pick up litter and to all our FAS Mid Louth C.E. workers. Thank you all. The committee look forward to working with you during the coming season.

House and Garden

Competition

A great opportunity for you to win €200 doing something you enjoy. Knockbridge Tidy Towns Annual House and Garden Competition has got underway with a new incentive. Yes, the overall winner will receive a cheque for €200 plus the Kathleen Farrell Perpetual Trophy. 2nd Prize winner will receive a cheque for €100 and 3rd Prize is €50. A nice little sum of money all round. So as the story goes, “...if you’re not in you can’t win...” All you have to do to enter the competition is complete the application form that you can pick up in Brodigan’s Foodstore in the village and return the completed form to the box provided in Brodigan’s. All of the above is private and will only be opened by the appropriate tidy towns volunteers. Closing date is 13th April. Photographs of the gardens and houses entered will then be taken at various intervals by tidy towns representatives. So, please note when completing your application form that you are giving your permission for tidy towns to photograph the subject of your entry during the coming months. Adjudication of the 2013 House and Gardens competition will take place in June and winners will be notified. Good Luck everybody, don’t forget to get your entry in over the next week. The catchment area that applies to all entries extends out to Martin’s Cross, The Stone Trough and from Grange Cross to the top of the Rathiddy Road.

Visit Stephenstown Pond

Yes, you can now visit Stephenstown Pond and Nature Park for just 8 cent per day over the next 365 days (one year). The cost of an Annual Swipe Card to allow you access to the nature park every day of the coming year will now only cost you €30. You can purchase your Swipe Card any day at The Dairy Maid Coffee Shop at the pond. A great idea for a Birthday present, Christmas gift or just a present for a family member or friend. Coffee Shop is open seven days per week from 9.30am to 5pm. Stephenstown Pond Nature Park is open during Summer opening hours (from 1st April to end of September) from 8am to 8.30pm seven days per week. What a perfect way to get out and about in a safe, healthy and tranquil environment than to take a leisurely stroll round the lakeside walkways at our own award winning Stephenstown Pond.

Illegal Parking

We have been asked by a victim who had their car broken into last week while illegally parked across the road from Stephenstown Pond that a handbag with a valuable wedding ring, Canon camera and some personal belongings was stolen. Should anybody be offered a camera fitting this description, you are asked to report this to the Gardai.

The Ladybirds meet on a Wednesday night from 5.50 p. to 6.50. P.m. in the St. Bride’s Meeting rooms. The Brownies follow at 7.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. and the Guides also meet from 7.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. All meet in the Bride’s Meeting Rooms.
