Tables with a maximum of five persons cost €50 with a raffle with great prizes on the night. Come along and support your local Tidy Towns Committee.

Bowls

The Village indoor bowls club continued their good form in the league with an away win over Greenhills in Drogheda last Saturday week. This win keeps the club close to the top of the league and with two home games left, they could be pushing for league honours. Also last Saturday week club members Paul Duff and Andrea Flannigan captured the open pairs title in Lisburn, Co. Armagh for which they had qualified for the final earlier that week. Last week the club ran their open tournament in the community centre with the finals being played last Saturday night. Full report next week.

Wedding

Last Saturday week The Church of the Immaculate Conception was the setting for the wedding of popular local girl Ellen Clarke, Mullacrew and Douglas Forde, Shercock. Ellen is the daughter of Gerry and Bea Clarke.

The celebrant was Fr. Sean Quinn. Bridesmaid was Marguerite Walsh sister of the bride whilst duties of bestman were carried out by Adrian Forde. Pageboys were Leo and James Walsh, singers were Ruth Kelly and Aoibhinn Smyth and organist was Paddy Neary.

Afterwards the reception was held in Cabra Castle Hotel, Kingscourt where an enjoyable night was realy enjoyed by all who attended. We send the happy couple our congratulations and wish them all the best in their married life.

St. Mochtas

The clubs first game of the year did not go so well as they were beaten by St. Fechins away in the Shield Competition. After disappointment of losing while playing for louth U/21s Ciaran Byrne stepped up to the senior county team when he came on as a sub against Galway last Saturday week. He fitted in well and got on the scoresheet in what was a good win for Louth. Hopefully he retained his place last Saturday night for the away game against Laois.

In division one of the county ladies league, St.Mochtas had an easy win against Geraldines the weekend before last.
