The Peoples’ Club
At the last meeting of The People’s Club for the Actively Retired we were visited by Anne Murphy, Project Co-ordinator of Good Morning Louth which is a free telephone service for older people. The main aim of the service is to ensure older people are safe and well in their home. It provides opportunities for people to share worries or concerns, and it will raise awareness of other potentially useful local services, thus connecting people to their local communities. It has a system in place to alert others if a call is not answered, ensuring peace of mind for older people and their families. E.mail email@example.com, telephone 042-9330103. Also on Thursday last seven members of the club met with Researcher Aoife Bailey for a very interesting discussion “Do older people perceive the care they receive from primary healthcare professionals as being person-centred?” So it was a fairly busy session for the club as they also bid a sad farewell to Phyllis Rahill who has completed her term as with the club and we welcomed Marian McIntyre on board as the new person in this important position. We wish Phyllis all the best for the future and look forward to a visit to us now and then. And we wish Marian a happy stay with us. Next getogether of The People’s Club will be on this Thursday March 7th in Aclint Hall from 11am to 1pm. And we are always looking for new members; if you are retired and reasonably active why not give us a shout at 041-6855406 or 087-2431501. We have a scarcity of men in our club and we would love to hear from any men (and women) interested in joining us.
