Sympathy is extended to husband and family of Breda McKenna of Annaghs (nee Brennan of Cortial daughter of the late Margaret and Jack) who was laid to rest in Knockbridge Cemetery on Wednesday last, also to her son Donal and family of Cortial and her brother John and family in Cortial. Condolences also to Kitty Begley and family Shanmullagh on the death of her husband Mickey who was laid to rest in Shelagh on Sunday morning week last.


Kilkerley Emmets 25 week lotto draw last Tuesday had a Jackpot of €3,500 of which there was no winner. Numbers drawn were: 17,18, 22,28. Winners of €20 each were: Liam Brennan c/o R Mulholland; Roisin Duffy c/o E Mulholland; Owen Bellew c/o C Murphy; Dempsey Family c/o A Conlon; John McGeown c/o M Mc Geown. Your support for the club is appreciated. The lotto fundraiser is most important as it goes towards the weekly costs of running the club, for heating, insurance, electricity and general maintenance etc. While the club has recently been awarded a grant of 80K, it is for project work only, and can only be claimed in part or full on completion of developments carried out to the criteria standards, followed by inspections and approved by the relevant Authorities along with production of paid invoices.

Dancing in Centre

Dancing in the Community Centre this Sunday night March 17 with music by Blue Magic. Showbud play on March 24 and Cannon and Ramsey on March 31, Tommy Carroll on April 7, Country Roots on April 14, Curtis Magee on April 21 and Footsteps on April 28. Dancing from 9.30pm to 12.30am. The popular trad/rock/irish group Up 2 It play in the Rock Inn this Saturday night and Paul Kennedy plays in Callans this Sunday March 17.


Parishioners can keep up to date with Parish news on the new website for the pastoral area which can be found at Please bring all used postage stamps and place in the box in the Church Porch as they will benefit the missionary work.

As part of the Year of the Faith and in discussion with the Pastoral Council Fr. Gerry has offered to celebrate Area Masses in homes once a month. If you wish to host an Area Mass please contact Fr. Gerry.

Pilgrimage to


Pilgrimage takes place this year from May 12 to May 17. Fare is €680 which includes Flights, Insurance, transfers, accommodation and all your food. Fatima Pilgrimage

This Pilgrimage takes place from June 20 to June 27, 2013 costing €699 per person sharing, including all meals and insurance. Single room supplement €15 per night. Further details from Fr. Gerry Campbell PP.

Emmets GFC

Training continues each week, Tuesday and Friday and all players are expected to turn out. Members are reminded that membership fees are due and can be paid to the Treasurers or any officer. New members or former members are most welcome to join and can do so by contacting any Officer. Club lotto jackpot was €3,600 this week. The Sheelan Cup continued with an away draw with Gaels 3-9 each. Scorers were, Sean Hand 2-1, Conal McGeough 0-1,Cathal Bellew 0-3, Donal McElroy 0-2, Niall Lennon 1-1 and Shaun McElroy 0-1. On Thursday night last away to Na Piarsaigh it was a defeat 1-3 to 0-4 with 0-2 each for S Hand and C McGeough. Next round is at home to Naomh Malachi.


Bowls continue weekly at the local Bowls Club where you will be very welcome each Wednesday night at 7.45pm in the Community Centre.


Activity for members continue each Friday night from 8.30pm in the Community Centre.
