Dundalk RFC’s U16 girls team recorded an impressive 13-7 win away to Suttonians last weekend.

Within the first couple of minutes, Suttonian girls took it to Dundalk and stated their intentions with good passing and running to score a try within the first two minutes of the game.

Dundalk kept their cool and came back with an equalising try. For the next 10 minutes it was try for try before Dundalk finally warmed up and got into the stride.

Outstanding defensive work rate by Orla Conway, Jessica Malone, Neasa Boyle, Eva Toal, Katie McGee, Zoe Valentine, Aoife Craven and Shona Kelly kept the pressure on Suttonians and didn’t give them the room to play their preferred fast running game.

Dundalk continued to run, and pass, finding space and getting the ball back to their fast paced support players.

Zoe Valentine had an outstanding game and went over the try line six times. Deborah Malone with her fast pace and low centre of gravity was difficult to tag while Niamh Belton found her stride on the wing.

Maedhbh O’Callaghan recorded a great break and try from the wing while Sadhbh McDonnell’s determination and speed through the centre meant she went over three times. Eva Toal, the youngest of the team, also had a great game.
