Dundalk will begin the 2011 Airtricity League Premier Division season with a mouth watering trip to Tallaght to face reigning champions Shamrock Rovers on Friday March 4.

The Lilywhites were something of a bogey team for the Hoops last season, winning three of their four meetings. Goals from Stephen Maher and Neale Fenn gave Ian Foster's side a stylish 2-0 victory at the Tallaght Stadium in March. When the sides met at Oriel Park in May, Fenn and JJ Melligan were on the scoresheet for Dundalk in a 2-1 win that moved Dundalk three points clear at the top of the table.

Rovers took advantage of a weary Dundalk side bogged down in a fixture pile up by romping to a 4-0 win in Tallaght in July but Dundalk replied in kind in September when Matthew Tipton hit a hat-trick in a 5-1 demolition of the would be champions at Oriel Park.

The sides are due to meet at Oriel Park for the first time on Bank Holiday Monday, May 2 with return meetings at Tallaght Stadium and the Carrick Road venue for Monday June 20 and Saturday September 3 respectively.

Following their trip to Tallaght on the opening day, Dundalk play two home games in succcessive weeks with Sean Connor's Galway United the first visitors to Oriel Park on March 11. Former Boheminas duo Mark Quigley and Jason Byrne will then face their old employers on March 18 before the Lilywhites finish off the month with a trip to Inchicore to face St Patrick's Athletic on March 25.

Other notable dates on the fixture list is the first visit back to the Brandywell to face newly promoted Derry City on April 8 and the return of FAI Cup winners Sligo Rovers to Oriel Park on April 15.

Dundalk will also make four league trips to Dalymount Park next season with Sporting Fingal pencilled in to play their home games at the north Dublin ground.

The league will take a summer break from July 23 to August 5 to facilitate the four team tournament involving Inter Milan, an Airtricity League XI and two other sides, scheduled for the Aviva Stadium.
