Bay United kept up their chase for honours in the U13 Premier Division when they came out on top in a thoroughly entertaining game with Ardee Celtic in Bellew Park on Thursday night.
Bay got off to great start on seven minutes when Shane Tobin pounced on an error to put them 1-0 ahead but the sides were level four minutes later when Johnny Commins played an inch perfect ball into the path of Jay Crawley and he made no mistake from the edge of the penalty area.
A Tom Jackson cross from the bye line on 13 minutes provided a simple chance for William Opuko to put Bay 2-1 ahead and the same two players combined to carve out the same move four minutes later for Opuko to score his second goal and put Bay 3-1 in front.
Ardee responded brilliantly and Bobby Butterly and Jay Crawley went close before Carl Gillespie slammed a shot past Odumosu in the 24th minute to leave one goal between the teams.
Bay went into a 4-2 half-time lead when Tom Jackson showed quick feet to find space at the edge of the area and blasted into the bottom corner.
The away side were full of character and kept pressing forward after the break searching for goals with Johnny Commins and Carl Gillespie having their efforts denied by Odumosu and Gillespie did manage to beat Odumosu in the 55th minute but the ball bounced back of the bottom of the Bay United post.
At the other end a Ben Goss free-kick was brilliantly saved by Ardee ‘keeper Dylan White and in the 64th minute Tom Jackson added his second to kill the game off when he won possession deep in the Ardee half to hammer the ball home to seal the win.
