Jack Reid was the goal scoring hero for Rock Celtic when he hit Muirhevnamor with a sickening blow by scoring twice in a dramatic finale in this U16 League encounter.

Matthew Egan had given Muirhevnamor the lead 17 minutes into the second-half and the home side looked certain to claim a home victory with Rock Celtic wasting several but two late strikes from Reid sent the points home to the seaside.

The visitors had the edge of the first-half proceedings and Kizito Ekwueme should have scored on 21 minutes but he somehow headed Ross Kelly’s inviting cross wide of the target.

Jack Reid was then unlucky not to score on 28 minutes but he was denied by a fine save from Muirhevnamor ‘keeper Pauric McConville.

Muirhevnamor created a couple of good chances before the break with Ryan Kavanagh and Ciaran Jamison shooting wide and they were the better team on the resumption of play in the second half with Lee Kavanagh showing plenty of creativity in midfield. This was reflected in the number of chances they were creating with Matthew Egan and Ryan Kavanagh going close and they deservedly took the lead when Egan eventually broke the deadlock with a fine finish from just inside the area.

There were chances at the other end too as Rock pressed forward in numbers looking for an equaliser and referee Dennis Dullaghan was kept busy as the teams managed to maintain a high tempo. Rock began to get on top but they wasted several opportunities from set-pieces and it looked like they would end the game on the losing side.

That all changed, however, as they they claimed the points with a late rally. Kizito Ekwueme rolled a free kick to Jack Reid who unleashed a shot that flew past Pauric McConville in the final minute and deep into time added on, Reid latched on to a long kick out from goalkeeper Luke Murphy to score a dramatic winner.
