Mark Traynor sent Quay Celtic on their way to a 4-0 win in the second minute with a terrific free kick just outside the penalty area in their U13 mid-week fixture with Bellurgan United.
Quay Celtic also recorded a comfortable victory over bottom side Redeemer United on Saturday morning to go top of the table which means we have new leaders of the U13 Premier Division for the first time since November.
Bellurgan for their part made life very difficult for Quay; Glen Stewart came close to equalising on 16 minutes but he was denied by a fine Joseph Mee save, however the remainder of the half was evenly played out and Quay went into the break leading by a slender 0-1 advantage.
Quay pressed in the second half looking for the all important second goal and Adam Lennon duly obliged on 44 minutes when he struck the bottom corner with a cracking right footed shot. Mark Traynor then struck from the penalty spot for his second and Quay’s third goal after Terence Kelly was fouled and Kelly added a fourth goal in the closing stages to complete the scoring.
